Clinical Nursing
The Foundation of My Professional Journey
For more than 30 years, patient care has been at the center of my professional career. My clinical experience in emergency services, coronary care units, intensive care units, medical-surgical settings, and home healthcare provided the foundation for a career that later expanded into infection prevention, healthcare epidemiology, patient safety, and quality improvement.
Regardless of the role I have held, I have always believed that the primary purpose of healthcare is to improve people's lives and contribute to safer, higher-quality outcomes.
Throughout my career, I have maintained the conviction that nursing is much more than performing technical procedures. It is about being present, listening carefully, providing support, ensuring safety, and helping individuals navigate some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives.
Over the years, and particularly after personally experiencing a serious illness and a lengthy recovery process, I gained an even deeper appreciation for the value of empathy, communication, and human connection in healthcare.
That experience reinforced my belief that the best clinical outcomes are achieved when professional knowledge is combined with a genuine understanding of each patient's physical, emotional, and human needs.
Emergency Nursing
CEMIC – Buenos Aires, Argentina
Working in emergency care provided valuable experience in the assessment and management of patients with acute illnesses, traumatic injuries, and potentially life-threatening conditions.
This environment required rapid decision-making, close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, continuous patient monitoring, and the ability to remain calm and organized under pressure.
These years strengthened my clinical judgment and reinforced the importance of effective communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
Cardiovascular and Critical Care Nursing
Cardiovascular Institute – Hospital Español
Sanatorio Mitre – Buenos Aires, Argentina
My experience in coronary care and intensive care units involved caring for critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and specialized interventions.
I participated in the care of patients recovering from major cardiovascular procedures, individuals experiencing acute cardiac events, and patients requiring intensive support and close observation.
Working in these environments taught me the importance of attention to detail, early recognition of clinical changes, and the need to support both patients and their families during periods of significant uncertainty and emotional stress.
These experiences also strengthened my ability to respond with composure, responsibility, and precision in complex clinical situations.
Medical-Surgical Nursing
Throughout my clinical practice, I have cared for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.
My responsibilities included patient assessment, safe medication administration, wound care, patient education, discharge planning, and coordination with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote safe recovery and continuity of care.
These experiences reinforced my belief that every patient deserves individualized care delivered with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Home Healthcare and Private Duty Care
Providing care in a patient's home offers a unique perspective on health, recovery, and quality of life.
In home healthcare settings, I have supported individuals recovering from hospitalization, managing chronic conditions, adapting to physical limitations, and maintaining their independence whenever possible.
This work requires not only strong clinical skills, but also flexibility, empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with both patients and their families.
For many individuals, remaining in a familiar environment contributes significantly to their physical and emotional well-being, and I consider it a privilege to be part of that recovery process.
From Direct Patient Care to Patient Safety Leadership
My clinical experience served as the foundation for my later work in infection prevention, healthcare epidemiology, quality improvement, and patient safety.
Having worked at the bedside allowed me to understand that behind every quality indicator, protocol, audit, and prevention strategy is a person who trusts the healthcare system to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.
This clinical perspective continues to guide my work today, allowing me to integrate the viewpoint of the frontline healthcare professional with a broader focus on systems, processes, and healthcare outcomes.
Whether participating in healthcare-associated infection prevention programs, supporting quality improvement initiatives, or promoting a culture of patient safety, I have never lost sight of the people whose lives are affected by these efforts.
An Ongoing Commitment
Today, I remain committed to safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care, whether through direct patient care, supporting healthcare teams, or contributing to initiatives that strengthen quality and patient safety.
The knowledge gained through decades of clinical experience, combined with my background in public health, infection prevention, healthcare epidemiology, and healthcare management, allows me to contribute both practical expertise and a broader understanding of healthcare systems.
Throughout every role I have held, one principle has remained constant:
Healthcare is ultimately about people.
Behind every diagnosis, procedure, quality indicator, and healthcare policy is a person who deserves to be treated with dignity, empathy, and respect.
That principle has guided my career from the very beginning and continues to define my professional practice today.
People always come first.
